Snow White and the Huntsman

I love the way Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim helps us to analyze movies.  We recently saw the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman”.  I hadn’t heard much about it, and didn’t expect much.  But is was surprisingly good.

It started off  with the good king's wife dying, and he rescued a pretty woman from the evil enemy.  It looked like she was in dire need, but it was a setup, and they planted this lovely looking girl to capture the King's heart.  The plan worked and the King married her the next day and made her Queen.  That same evening, as the King was about to make love to her, she stabbed him with that big knife in the picture, and then she let her evil army in and they took over the empire.  Snow White, the king's little daughter was put into prison and held there for many years.  In the mean time the Evil Queen brought misery and death to the empire.

How often have you heard of someone being tempted by temptation, only to ruin their lives.  We as humans often succumb to the dark side:  power, sex and money.  Which one do you desire, and how far will you go for it?  That is the question that everyone in their life will face.

Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim helps us to find inner strength to fight temptation, and fight for what is good and right.  We need to train ourselves, and discipline ourselves, so we can control our emotions, and become the master of our lives.

Even though you have made bad decisions, and you may now be in a horrible situation, you need to know that God loves you and will forgive you.  Even in the most impossible situations, there is always hope.  Repent, and change your ways.  Generate love and help others.  Use your experiences as your fertilizer to make you a stronger person, and more dedicated to follow the light and do good in your life.  Never give up.  I love that energy.  I love when Snow White finally decided it was time to fight back against the evil queen and win.  No matter what, fight for what is right.  The movie ended in a very positively, and I like that.  Of course, I am an optimist.

With honor and respect.  :)

Are You Ready - Mind, Body, or Spirit?

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has some of the most incredible training programs.  She always emphasizes to be ready on all levels.  To do that, we have to discipline ourselves, and train hard everyday.  We have to adopt the warrior spirit and energy.  We have to learn to challenge ourselves and strive to be better everyday.  We have to learn to manage our energy and overcome tireness, laziness, fear, and temptation.  We have to be in control of our emotions, and not let anger and fear guide our decisions.  We have to meditate and become the master of our subconscious, to be able to kick Satan out, when he attacks us.  We have to be alert and ready anytime and anyplace, because we do not know when it comes.  Lets fight evil and be the warrior of our life and help and defend others.

An Incredible Rainbow Moon

I love the way Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim helps us to analyze movies.  We recently saw the movie “BattleShip”.  I hadn’t heard much about it, and didn’t expect much.  But is was surprisingly good.  It started off  about youth, arrogance, and ignorance, and quickly moved into an emergency situation of survival, death, and fear.  It showed that we are vulnerable, and that we can rise to the occasion.  It showed under extreme situations how we can grow, unify, and conquer.   How even in the most impossible situations, is it still possible.  I love that energy.  It also ended in a very positively, and I like that.  Of course, I am an optimist.  On the way home, the wind was blowing, the fog was moving in, and the temperature was dropping.  We looked up and there was a bright moon with a circular rainbow around it.  I had never seen that before.  I took a picture, but it really doesn’t capture how spectacular it was.

We were looking at the amazing moon, and all of a sudden Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim shouted out Ezekiel 1:28 from the Bible.  There was no bible around.  It was very dark.  Where did this come from?  This moon was very unexpected.  There was no planning.  Everything happened at the spur of the moment.  But what really happened?  I quickly  looked up the message in my bible app on my iPhone: “Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.   This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. "

Thank you Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, for all your incredible training, wisdom, and love.  I feel incredibly lucky that God brought me into your life.  May God bless you and protect you, and give us the courage, strength, and wisdom to be God’s soldiers through helping others, giving others hope, and doing positive deeds.

Beauty & Strength

Beauty and Strength

Isn’t this flower incredibly beautiful?  It’s beauty and smell in really amazing.  Nature at its very best.  Also I love the stories Great Grandmaster TaeYun Kim told me about flowers.  One story emphasized how strong the flower is.  It looks so soft and delicate, and yet is stays outside day and night.  Can you do that?  The flower is in the blazing sun all day.  You should try that.  Sometimes after being outside only 1-2 hours, I am too hot.  But the flowers continue to dance in the wind, and shine in the sun.

Yet all this mean nothing if we don’t take care of the root.  The root is the foundation.  The root is the source of energy.  We need to take care of the root at all costs.  We must stand up and protect the root.

Archery and the Warrior Spirit

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has many many training courses.  One of my favorites, is the one that uses the ancient art of archery to train and develop our warrior spirit.

The first lessons are about the basics of safety.  To your life and others.  Which way are we shooting?  Is the range clear?  Where are the targets?  Where should the shooters stand?  What are the range rules?  Once it is clear, are you pointing the arrow in the right direction?  Never fool around, or point anywhere but down range.

The next lessons are about the basics of your equipment.  Is it safe?  Do you know how to use it?  This can include your bow, arrows, arrow heads, feathers, bow string, clothing, arm guards, finger guards, target rests, quivers, and more.

Next, load the bow with the arrow properly.  Proper posture, draw, breathing, metal focus and release.

Next is practice.  For the very first time, start close and make sure you can hit the target.  Can you hit the target at 10 feet?  At 15 feet?  If so, you are on your way.

Now it can get very exciting, and what you need is practice, practice, and more practice.  Can you hit the target at 15 yards?  20 yards, 25 yards, 30 yards and more....  Can you group your arrows?  Can you control your breathing?  Can you control your attitude and ego?  Can you focus your mind?  Can you control your energy?

Now Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim raises the training level.  She pushes us to train with the bong between each set of arrows.  Do forms in between, Spar with a partner.  Your energy is rising.  You are out of breathe.  You are tired and yet exciting and your are huffing and puffing.  Now can you control your breathing?  Can you calm yourself in a matter of seconds.  Can you hold the bow steady, and release very calmly?  Can you group your arrows into a tight circle?

Next you run to different stations, and load, run, and fire.  The lessons are many.  The discipline is necessary.  The excitement and learning is awesome.  I feel awesome to be part of these training programs.  What an exciting life dream.

Thank you Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, for keeping and promoting the way of the warrior.

Ki Energy Morning Training with Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim

This morning at 6am, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim had an energy training class up on the mountain.  I must say, I can't think of a better way to start the day.  She showed us the power of the Universe, and that God loves us.  She shared the power, and tranquility, and peace and beauty with all of us.  Then we meditated to the sun rise.  Just before the sun came up Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim prepared us physically and mentally for the energy and meditation experience.  Then we sat and looked toward where the sun would normally rise.  It was like the 4th of July.  Lights were shooting off the mountain, and little sparkles of Ki - Energy were dancing everywhere.  What an incredible experience.  Then the color show, deep and beautiful reds, and blues and greens...  better than any light show I ever saw.  It was like God was reaching out his hands to us to tell us that he will take care of us in this life and the next life.  "Don't worry my children - I am here for you".

Next we ran, and did bong training and sparring and had a fantastic morning.  It was perfect.  Thank you Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim.  Your love and great desire to teach us to love and help one another is amazing and so beautiful.  I feel humbled and honored to be in your classes.

Thank you,
Joon Hwang.

Nature walks on water! Can you?

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim challenges us to walk on water?  But what does this mean?  I had a recent experience where Great Grandmaster was setting some goals for me.  I immediately thought, this is impossible.  But Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim explained to me, thats it.  That is your doubt and fear and practicality coming up.  Don't hold yourself backKeep positiveKeep the faith and know that somehow it will happen.  We don't have to know how it will happen.  We just have to believe and strive to make it happen.  This stretches us in ways we must stretch.  I started coming up with new ideas, and new approaches.  Its funny, or maybe I should say sad, but I started to realize, I can do this.  I can really make this happen.  But if Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, hadn't pushed me, I would have given up.  I never would have taken that next step into greater success.  This is an awesome lesson of faith and belief.  It also emphasizes why a good coach is needed.  I belive that we all need a good coach or a good master instructor in our corner.  Now we have to learn to be that for others.  Lets spread the knowledge and wisdom.

Think about the concept of a flower before it blooms.  Think of the leaves talking to each other about the beautiful flower that is about to bloom.  A month ago, it looked impossible.  They probably said it was impossible.  They would never sign up for that responsibility.  Yet Mother natures has only 1 direction.  It moves towards its goal, never gives up, is fully determined, and in the end, creates the most beautiful flowers.  Lets do that in our lives.  Lets all reach out and make a positive difference in this world.

Take Control of Your Mind...

Have you ever walked on a low balance beam?  It is usually not too difficult.  But if you put it up 10 feet in the air, it is much more difficult.  By why?  It shouldn't be anymore difficult.  It is the same balance beam.  But why?

Fear.  It should make a difference.  Be disciplinedHave courage.  Apply this to all aspects of your life.  Take Charge of your life.

He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim rescues an Owl

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim finds an owl sitting on an angel's head.  It turns out the owl is hurt and she reaches out to help it.  As instructors, it is our duty to reach out and help others.

It feels to me like a sign from God, giving us great strength, and telling us to have courage, maintain that warrior spirit, and know that we are on the right track in helping people

The following  rings in my mind:
Native Americans associated the meaning of owl with wisdom, foresight, and the keeper of sacred knowledge.  … To this day the owl is considered an animal soul-spirit linked to a spiritual person via a unique communicative bond.

Owl Animal Symbolism:
The owl is sacred to the Greek goddess of learning.  Athena and is even depicted on some Greco-Roman Currency as a symbol of status, intelligence and of course wealth.
In ancient Egyptian, Celtic, and Hindu cultures the symbolic meaning of owl revolved around guardianship of the underworlds, and the protection of the dead.
In this light the owl was ruler of the night and seer of souls.  It should be clear that the owl was honored as that keeper of spirits who had passed from one plane to another.  Often myth indicates that owl accompanying a spirit to the underworld – winging it’s newly freed soul from the physical world into the realm of spirit.

A quick list of symbolic meanings:
-             Wisdom, Mystery, Transition, Intelligence, Mysticism, Protection, Secrets...
-
Native Americans associated the meaning of owl with wisdom, foresight, and the keeper of sacred knowledge.  This may be largely due to the fact that the owl is a great fore teller of weather conditions.  Also its ability to see at night is legend among the Native Americans, and this attribute would be invoked during ceremonies when an oracle of secret knowledge was required.

Similarly, West African and Aboriginal Australian cultures viewed the owl as a messenger of secrets, as well as companions to seers, mystics and medicine people.

During medieval times in western and central Europe it was fabled that owls were actually priestesses and wizards in disguise.  To this day the owl is considered an animal soul-spirit linked to a spiritual person via a unique communicative bond.

I never would have even attempted what Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim was doing, but look, she is carrying the owl, and the yet the owl knows it is in loving hands.  All this is confirmation that we should help each other and know that we are in God's loving hands.

Warrior & Instructors: Important lessons from Archery

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim is a great teacher, motivator, and coach.  She is training us to be great instructors and warriorsPracticing with the bow and arrow is a sport, and also a martial art form, but it can also be a meditation.  It requires a lot of discipline and practice to be very good.  Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim says that after you learn the basics, have faith in your abilities and challenge yourself.  At first we start very close to the target.  And then we progressively back up from the target 5 yards at a time.  It may not seem like much, but the difference between 10 yards, 20 yards, 30 yards and 50 yards is significant.  Start close, gain your confidence.  Get to where you know you can hit the target.  Focus in on an exact target.  Try to group the arrows as close to the target as possible.  As you backup things will get more difficult.  Set your goal as you aim at your target.  In your mind, make the target very very important, like saving someone's life, or towards an important goal in your life.  Be calm, be motivated, take your time, time your pull back and release with your breathing, and be steady.   Don't be satisfied with ordinary performance.  What ever distance you are off when you are close, will be multiplied as you increase your distance.  Try not to let this happen.  Just like in our own life.  You set a goal and be disciplined.  As you sway from your goal (like losing weight or not smoking), in a year or 2 your may not notice the effect, but wait 5 or 10 years and the effects may be devastating.  The same happens when you shoot from different distances.  Learn the lessons for you life.  Alot of these types of lessons, we learn in Jung Suwon Martial Art Academy everyday.  Set your goals, target in, be disciplined in achieving results and don't sway.

Good luck, have fun, and God Bless.

The Origins of "He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!"

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim- Teacher, Author, and Grandmaster shared with us the inspiration for her saying "He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!"

Look inside the Bible, Matthew 14.22 - Jesus Walks On Water, ... During the 4th watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.  when the disciples saw him walking on the lake they were terrified.  Its a ghost, they said, and cried out in fear.  But Jesus immediately said to them:  "Take courage!  It is I.  Don't be afraid."

Lord, if it's you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water.  "Come", Jesus said.  Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord save me!"

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.  "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim as a young girl read this from the bible, and immediately starting saying to herself, "He can do, she can do, why not me!".  If you have faith you can do anything, but if you have doubt you will sink yourself.  Dr. Tae Yun Kim teaches and lives this philosophy.  In her school and business they shout it out.  Have faith, believe, and go for it.  "He can do, she can do, why not me."
