Can Shyness become a Negative Force?

The first time that Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim explained this concept to me, I did not understand, "Can shyness become a negative force?"  I used to think of shyness as just a characteristic, or that shy people are just scared or weak and unable to come out of their shells.  But she helped me understand it on several levels, and over the years I have observed "shyness".

For example, especially for would be instructors and teachers that have important things to share with people.  If they have the ability to really help others.  If they let shyness get in the way of expressing themselves in front of others, or helping others, then in my view, they are not doing their part.  They are standing by while others are in need or suffering.  In my view, that would be wrong, and becomes a negative force in your life.

As instructors, we have a responsibility to help others, and we may hold some golden nuggets to share with people that would improve their lives, but if we don’t share, and let people go on suffering when we could have helped, that is terrible.
Instead we must be brave, and fight our inner fears, so we can share our good fortune and years of training with others.

I    If in your life, you have been lucky enough to have had a good teacher, or mentor, or coach, shouldn't we be grateful, and share our blessings with others.  I feel that responsibility, and it motivates me to be strong and more outspoken.

2.     Many people often hide behind shyness.  Many people that I have known over the years that have seemed shy, often turn out to be the wildest ones in their private lives.  They often have a wildness or behavior that they don’t want anyone to know about.  Not always, but often.  So this falls more into the category of hiding negative behavior that they are not proud of, or feel bad about.  This negative behavior often falls into the category like wild partying, drug or alcohol abuse, abuse, lying, stealing, sexual impropriety, criminal activity, etc…

After thinking about this deeply, I can remember that there were times when I was in a group setting, and I have something important to say, but I didn’t say it.  Is that shyness or is that evil?  I find myself sometimes not wanting to contribute for many reasons, or are these just excuses?  Others are talking, or I feel a little shy, or I am worried what others will think of me, but I now realize that I have to break out of that shell.  I need to realize that it is a sin to let those petty reasons prevent me from speaking out.  I have to break whatever it is that holds me back, and be bold, and with good intentions try to help others.  Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim reminded me that Jesus called it, “feed the sheep”.  These are our brothers and sisters.  If we have something good to share, don’t keep it bottled up.

Thank you
Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, for showing me the light, helping me to be a better and more giving person.

I Cannot Wait Until Tomorrow

"I Cannot Wait Until Tomorrow", is another powerful phrase in Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim's song call Universal Heart. The more time passes, the more I realize that there may not be a tomorrow. We have to train, and workout and be discipline towards our goals now. Live your life now! Do meaningful things now. Everything is constantly changing. The environment, your body, your situation, your finances, and more. You may have been able to take a vacation 2 years ago, but now with the recession there is no way. You might have been able to workout last year, but this year your knees hurt, and your body isn't cooperating. GGM Tae Yun Kim has always said that time is her greatest enemy, and now I am just starting to see and feel that myself. As I review my life, I have unknownly wasted many years, and that time is wasted for ever. It is a very expensive lesson. Don't let that happen to you. Take charge of your life. Add love and balance to your life. Be good and honorable to others.

At a recent Jung SuWon Belt Ceremony 3/14/2009, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim led a most incredible event. Bringing up that "Can Do" Energy, and injecting it into the students and parents spirits. It was great to be a part of. I only wish more people could be part of that very special energy. I was watching the Super Nanny the other night. Many families have problems with their children's behavior, and yet when I see how well behaved the children at Jung SuWon are, I say to myself that all parents should know more about the children of Jung Suwon.

I was thinking more deeply about the passing of time and our responsibilities as instructors. We must help the children learn and grow into strong disciplined and confident people. As I see the younger students involved in good martial arts training, it helps build their bodies and minds. It helps shape them into better human beings. I feel and incredible feeling to help children more and to teach even more.

Remember your responsibility as a Jung SuWon Martial Arts Instructor is to make a postive difference in this world. With love and purpose in your heart, give each class and each student your very best. It is awesome to watch Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim do this. She is really good at teaching and inspiring people.

Take care of your health during a recession

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim had a great lecture the other night about the recession. Most people are stressed. Over 4 Million people are out of jobs and unemployment is growing. Fear, anger and depression are growing. Suicides are up.

One of the best ways to help make it through the recession is to be disciplined about your training, says Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim. Be very disciplined about working out 3 to 5 times a week. At Jung SuWon Academy we emphasize this to our students. By working out, they will feel better about themselves. They will shed stress and feel stronger, and that will give them to extra energy to deal with a growing negative environment.

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim dealt with very negative circumstances growing up and all her life. She faced war, and prejidice, and jealousy, and still faces that even today. One of the best ways to deal with that, is to focus on self-improvement. By building your self-confidence and positive energy, more people will want to be near you and you can create your own positive energy for you and your family.

So at Jung SuWon we encourage and motivate our students to train hard, be disciplined, and take charge of their life and the times. Tough times will pass, and it takes tough people to make it through. Be a warrior and champion of your life. Jung Su!

A Positive Attitude during a Recession? Why?

Why not? Most people will be depressed, and sad, and become more and more negative. But in tough times, that is when tough people get tough. The martial arts teaches people to be tough. To learn to challenge themselves and their environment. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim is a great example of that. She faced great hardship in her life. She had a choice, to sink, or to rise up and succeed. People want to be around happy and positive people. Learn to be tough. Learn to be that person. Positive energy attracts positive energy. As you attract it, you then can maintain your own positive energy more. Jung SuWon Martial Arts teaches that everyday, and if you read any of Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim's books you will see that energy being taught and projected.

Read the "Seven Steps to Inner Power". Discover the great power within you.
Read the "Silent Master". Here you really learn to apply your inner power.
And Read the "First Element" to discover many things about Energy that you never really knew. Learn to use energy to your advantage.

As a Jung SuWon Instructor it is our responsibility to demonstrate and teach our students these lessons. Good luck. You can do it. He can do. She can do. Why not me!!!

Don't Blame Others. Learn From Your Experiences.

The following is some very wise advice from Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim:
Often times students training at Jung SuWon Martial arts will complain, "that person kicked me", or "it was their fault, not mine".

For many people there is a natural tendency to blame others, and not take responsibility for their own actions. As an instructor, them to think differently, by asking some simple questions. Why did I get hit? Could I have moved out of the way? Could I have blocked better? If I trained more, could I have been better prepared? Was my attitude the best it could have been?

Help teach the students that they should re-direct that natural tendency to "blame others" into positive energy, towards self-examination and self-improvement. This will maximize the student's experience, help to motivate them more, and in the long run, this will make the "process" of training and learning a much more productive and enjoyable experience.

Remember, "enjoy the path". Learn to make your "path" more enjoyable, more productive, more educational, more motivational, and ultimately more deeply satisfying.

It is the Path that counts...

In today's society, there are so many goal oriented people. Everyone is trying to achieve the American dream of success.

Set your goals high, and you can achieve them. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, always encourages students to open their minds to larger possibilities. She tells people to set your goals higher, and then go for them. Don't limit yourself by your own thinking. In Jung SuWon training she emphasizes -> He can do, She can do, Why not me! Dr. Kim encourages people to not be held back by their attitudes, to have a positive mental attitude, and focus your mind toward your success.

Sometimes people take this to the extreme and forget about the here and now. Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, also emphasizes the balance, of body, mind, and spirit. Students need to keep up their training regularly, and stay healthy. It is also recommended to meditate daily and free you mind from stress and anxiety. She tells students that they need to learn to smile to themselves everyday. Be happy from within. This is part of enjoying the path in your life. Make each and everyday a great day, through your attitude. Have the knowledge that your journey may be long, but that each day you are taking a step in positive direction.

Enjoy the path. Have fun. Be healthy and help those around you. Never do anyone any harm.

Keeping up your own training..

Remember, when you become an instructor, the general business and student issues will start filling your life. Somehow, you still have to train for yourself. Even if it is only 30 minutes a day, find time. Make it a habit. It will keep you healthy, clear your mind, and keep that indomitable spirit alive inside you.

I have found this is critical to your attitude and facing each new day with a positive mental attitude.

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim always emphasizes, "He can do, She can do, Why not me!"
A positive attitude is critical for our success and happiness in life.
